Why Antibes works for an Instagram session
Antibes is where people who have already photographed Cannes come back to. The ramparts run directly above the water with nothing but stone and sea in the frame, the old town is a real working town rather than a shopping street, and the market hall gives you colour and shade in the same place.
Then the Cap. Fifteen minutes from the old town, the Sentier de Tirepoil follows the rocks through pines with the open Mediterranean behind you, and Plage de la Garoupe sits at the end of it. That contrast, dense old town then wild coastline, is the reason an Antibes gallery rarely looks like anyone else's.

How a content session with friends actually runs
Nobody in your group needs to know how to pose. We meet at the first spot, walk, talk and shoot as we go, and the direction is limited to where to stand and where to look. Most of the frames people keep are the ones between the poses, so we shoot through the walking and the laughing rather than stopping for it.
One hour covers three backdrops and two outfits comfortably. Two hours gets you a fourth spot, a swimsuit change and the time to slow down. Everyone in the group is photographed alone as well as together, which is the part people underestimate: a girls trip gallery where each person also has ten strong solo frames is worth far more to the group than the same number of group shots.

Practical things to know in Antibes
Everything above is public and needs no permit for a small handheld session. The one thing to plan for is footwear: the coastal path is uneven rock and the old town is cobbled, so bring flats for the walking and change into whatever you want to be photographed in when we get there.
Antibes also solves a budget problem. Hotels and restaurants cost noticeably less than in Cannes or Monaco, the train from Cannes takes about fifteen minutes, and the backdrops are arguably better. For a group trip built around content rather than nightlife, it is the smart base on this stretch of coast.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need a car to shoot in Antibes?
Not for the old town, the ramparts and Port Vauban, which are all within ten minutes of the train station on foot. You do need a car or a taxi for Cap d'Antibes and Plage de la Garoupe, about ten minutes away, so those go into a two hour session rather than a one hour one.
Is Antibes better than Cannes for photos?
Different, and quieter. Cannes gives you palms, the Croisette and instantly recognisable backdrops. Antibes gives you stone ramparts above the sea, a real old town, a market hall and a wild coastal path, with a fraction of the crowd. If you want frames that do not look like everyone else's Riviera post, Antibes wins.
How much walking is involved?
In the old town, very little, everything sits within ten minutes. The Cap d'Antibes coastal path is a genuine walk on uneven rock, about twenty minutes to reach the best stretch, so wear flats and carry the shoes you want in the photos. We plan the route around what the group is willing to walk.
What is the best time of day to shoot in Antibes?
Late afternoon into golden hour for the ramparts and the Cap, because the stone turns warm and the sea goes deep blue. Morning for the old town and the Provençal market, which closes around 1pm and is at its best between 9am and 11am when the stalls are full and the light comes through the iron roof.
