- a certificate of custom law (certificat de coutume) and a certificate of being single, from your embassy or consulate;
- a birth certificate issued less than 6 months before for a foreign record, or 3 months for a French one;
- a sworn translation of every document in another language, plus an apostille for some countries.
Order matters too. A religious ceremony cannot come before the civil one.

So almost every destination wedding on the cape is a symbolic ceremony. You sign the legal papers at home, then exchange vows on Cap Ferrat with a celebrant, in English or in two languages. The palace hotel: Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat
The Grand-Hôtel, a Four Seasons hotel, offers three settings for a ceremony: its gardens, the edge of the sea, or a salon. Its Club Dauphin has received guests since 1908. The hotel publishes a package with Champagne and canapés, a four-course dinner and dancing, and an in-house wedding team. You can also rent the whole hotel for your guests alone.
The museum villa: Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild
The pink villa built for Baroness Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild is hired exclusively for private wedding receptions. Its own site lists exclusive hire from €100,000, with a set list of approved caterers.

A private villa
Many weddings on the cape happen in private houses. A villa gives you a ceremony spot, a dinner terrace and rooms for the family in one booking. It also leaves every supplier to organise, from the caterer to the furniture, which is where a planner earns their fee.

When is the best month to get married on Cap Ferrat?
June and September are our pick: long, warm evenings, with sunset late enough for a relaxed day. In June 2027 the sun sets after 21:00 on Cap Ferrat. By mid-September it sets at 19:41, so dinner starts in the last light.
Plan your day backwards from sunset. We suggest a ceremony about two hours before it, and the couple portraits in the last half hour of light.

For couple portraits with one photographer and nothing set on the ground, no Riviera town publishes a permit or a fee. Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat has no dedicated published regime, and commercial shoots are handled by the town hall case by case.
