In short

The Monte-Carlo Rally 2027 runs from Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 January. The start is at 13:45 on Thursday and the podium at 17:00 on Sunday, both on the Port Hercule in Monaco. The Col de Turini Power Stage starts at 13:15 on Sunday. Stages were free to watch in 2026, and winter tyres or chains are required in the mountains.

If you are flying out for the Monte-Carlo Rally 2027, the good news is that the dates and the full itinerary are already published. The 95th Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo opens the World Rally Championship season from 21 to 24 January 2027, with the start and the podium both on the Port Hercule in Monaco.

When is the Monte-Carlo Rally 2027, and what happens each day?

The rally runs from Thursday 21 to Sunday 24 January 2027: the official start is at 13:45 on Thursday and the prize-giving at 17:00 on Sunday, both on the Port Hercule. The ACM notes the dates are subject to FIA calendar approval.

There are 18 special stages, the timed sections raced on closed roads, for more than 330 km in total according to Riviera Radio. Most of them run far from Monaco, in the Alpes-Maritimes, the Hautes-Alpes and the Drôme, with Gap as the base. So plan your weekend around the two ends of the rally.

Do you need tickets for the Monte-Carlo Rally?

No ticket is needed to watch the special stages. In 2026 the ACM stated that every special stage was free and open to all, from marked public areas. 2027 ticketing and hospitality had not been published in October 2026.

What the 2026 Fan Zone offered

The ACM has not yet said whether the Fan Zone returns in 2027. Visit Monaco says the programme, maps and spectator details will appear on the ACM website once published.

Where should you watch the start in Monaco?

Stand on the Port Hercule side of the harbour on Thursday, before 13:45. The first stage begins inland at 15:35, so the cars do not linger in Monaco.

How to reach the quay on foot

In 2026 the roads around the quay were closed, but the ACM kept three ways in:

Driving in? The ACM recommended the Parking des Salines, with more than 1,700 spaces about 16 minutes on foot from the port. From the Hôtel de Paris on the Place du Casino, it is simply a walk downhill.

How do you watch the Col de Turini Power Stage?

Drive up on Sunday morning and be in a marked public area well before the first car at 13:15. The pass sits at 1,607 m. The drive from the port is about 53 km by our route calculation on OpenStreetMap, and on rally day it takes far longer than usual.

The spectator rules (2026)

The exact 2027 closing times will be on the ACM spectator maps.

Winter driving: tyres or chains

The ACM reminds spectators to follow the French Mountain Law. From 1 November to 31 March, cars in listed mountain areas must have winter tyres or carry snow chains or snow socks. Ask your hire company or chauffeur to confirm this before Sunday.

Can you see the Turini and the podium on the same day? It is possible, but tight. You cannot leave until the stage reopens, and the prize-giving is at 17:00. If the podium matters more, book a driver who knows the back roads.

How do you get from Nice airport to Monaco?

The helicopter is the fastest way, and a private car the simplest. Here are the published options.

Where should you stay, and what should you pack?

Stay in Monte-Carlo itself, so the start and the podium are on foot. The Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, a five-star hotel on the Place du Casino open since 1864, is the classic choice. It houses Le Louis XV, Alain Ducasse's three-Michelin-star restaurant: book dinner well ahead and confirm January opening.

Expect mild days on the coast and real winter in the mountains. Météo-France normals for Nice give a January average high of 13.3°C and a low of 5.8°C. Our guide to the French Riviera in winter covers what is open in January.

Is it worth booking a photographer for the rally weekend?

Yes, if this is a trip you will both want to remember: one or two hours fit easily around the racing. Riva is a private luxury photography agency on the Riviera. Our photographers work discreetly in public spaces, never inside the restricted rally areas.
