In short
The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters runs from 3 to 11 April 2027 at the Monte-Carlo Country Club, which is in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin on the French side of the border rather than in Monaco itself. Prices for the edition are announced at the beginning of September, loyalty ticket sales open on 1 October at 9am and general public sales on 15 October at 9am. Buy the early days for tennis and the final weekend for the occasion; the weekend sells first.
The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is the strangest of the great tennis tournaments: a Masters 1000 played on clay, on a cliff, in gardens above the Mediterranean, in a country you can cross on foot. It also opens the Riviera season. When the tournament starts, the coast wakes up, which makes the first fortnight of April one of the best weeks of the year to be here for reasons that have nothing to do with tennis.

Which days should you buy?
The early ones, if you actually like tennis. The first days of a Masters 1000 put a dozen matches on court at once across the site, including the biggest names, for a fraction of the finals price, and you can walk between courts a few metres from the players. By the weekend you are watching one match in a full stadium, at the highest price of the week.
If you are coming for the occasion rather than the sport, the reverse is true and the finals weekend is the one to buy. Just buy it in October, because it is the session that sells first.
What makes this tournament different?
The site. The Monte-Carlo Country Club is built into a cliff between the road and the sea, so the courts are terraced, the sea is the backdrop of the main court, and the whole thing is closer to a garden party than to a stadium event. Two consequences: the walking is steep in places, and April light on that hillside is exceptional in the last two hours of the afternoon.
The second difference is the geography. The club is in France, the hotels people book are in Monaco, and the two are a few minutes apart along the coast. Come by train or on the tournament shuttles rather than by car, because the corniche is narrow and the parking is not designed for it.
Is early April a good time to be on the Riviera?
It is the opening of the season and one of the best value fortnights of the year. On the 1991-2020 normals for Nice, April averages 10,8 to 17,4 °C with 229 hours of sunshine in the month, a level the coast does not see again until it gets hot. The gardens are at their best, the sea is still cold, the summer crowds are two months away and the terraces have reopened.
For photographs, that combination is close to ideal: long soft afternoons, green hillsides, and towns that are open but not full. Sessions in April run at the same rate as in August, and the tournament week is one of the few in spring when Monaco hotels fill, so book both early. Frequently asked questions
When is the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters 2027?
From 3 to 11 April 2027 at the Monte-Carlo Country Club. Tickets for the 2027 edition open to loyalty holders on 1 October at 9am and to the general public on 15 October at 9am, with prices for the edition announced at the beginning of September. The finals weekend is the first session to sell out, so the general public opening in October is the moment to buy if that is the day you want.
Where is the Monte-Carlo Country Club?
In Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, on the French side of the border, a few minutes east of Monaco along the coast. It is not in the Principality itself, which surprises many first-time visitors. The site is terraced into a cliff between the corniche and the sea, so the courts sit on several levels and the main court has the Mediterranean behind it. Come by train or on the tournament shuttles: the corniche is narrow and parking is limited.
Which days of the Monte-Carlo Masters are best?
The early days if you want tennis, the weekend if you want the occasion. In the first days a dozen matches run at once across the site, including the biggest names, for a fraction of the finals price, and you can watch from a few metres away. By the final weekend you are watching a single match in a full stadium at the highest price of the week. Both are good days out, but they are not the same purchase.
Is April a good time to visit the French Riviera?
It is one of the best value months of the year. On the 1991-2020 normals for Nice, April averages 10,8 to 17,4 degrees with 229 hours of sunshine, the gardens are at their peak, the terraces have reopened and the summer crowds are still two months away. The sea is cold, which is the only real drawback. The tournament week is one of the few spring weeks when Monaco hotels genuinely fill, so book accommodation early for early April.
On the coast in April?
Early April is the opening of the season: 229 hours of sunshine in the month on the Nice normals, gardens at their peak, and none of the summer pressure. Send us your dates and we come back with an hour, a route and a price, usually within the hour.
